Find a Care Provider
Find a Care Provider
Looking for someone to help you or a loved one at home? The Marin County IHSS Public Authority can help connect you with caregivers who are interested in working with IHSS recipients.
What is the Provider Registry?
The Provider Registry is a list of caregivers who:
- Have completed IHSS provider enrollment requirements
- Have expressed interest in working in Marin County
- Have shared their availability, experience, and preferences
You choose who you want to contact, interview, and hire. The caregiver works for you — not for the Public Authority.
How the Process Works
- You request a list of caregivers that match your needs (language, location, schedule, experience, etc.).
- We send you caregiver options from the Registry.
- You contact caregivers directly to interview them.
- You choose who to hire based on who feels like the best fit.
You stay in control of the hiring decision.
Who can use the Registry?
The Registry is available to:
- People who are approved for IHSS in Marin County
- Family members or authorized representatives helping someone find care
Important to Know
- The Public Authority does not employ or supervise caregivers.
- We help make connections, but the working relationship is between you and the caregiver.
- Caregivers are paid through the IHSS program, not by the Public Authority.
Emergency Back-Up Provider (EBUP)
Sometimes assigned IHSS caregivers can’t make it to work due to illness, emergencies, or unexpected situations. When this happens, eligible IHSS recipients may be able to use the Emergency Back-Up Provider (EBUP) program.
EBUP provides temporary, short-term caregivers when:
- Your regular provider calls out unexpectedly
- You have an urgent need for care and no one else is available
- You would otherwise be at health and safety risk without essential care
Important details
EBUP is for emergency situations only, not ongoing scheduling gaps.
Backup caregivers are available on a limited basis.
Eligibility and availability may depend on your level of need and current situation.
How to request EBUP support
If you need an emergency backup caregiver, contact the Marin County IHSS Public Authority as soon as possible.
