Care Recipients
IHSS Care Recipients
IHSS care recipients are people who need extra help to live safely and independently in their own homes. This program serves older adults, people with disabilities, and individuals with serious health conditions who qualify based on their needs and income. Many care recipients need assistance with everyday activities such as:
- Bathing and personal care
- Dressing and grooming
- Meal preparation and eating
- Light housekeeping and laundry
- Getting to medical appointments
- Managing medications
- Mobility and safety in the home
The goal of IHSS is to help people stay in their own homes and communities, instead of having to move into nursing homes or other facilities.
The Marin County IHSS Public Authority supports care recipients by:
- Helping connect you with caregivers
- Providing information about available resources
- Offering guidance on how to be a successful employer of your caregiver
- Supporting your independence and choice
Our goal is to empower IHSS Care Recipients to stay safely in their homes. If you are eligible for services, we can help match you with qualified Care Providers and also share other important resources that can help improve your quality of life.
If you are not yet authorized to receive IHSS benefits, please read about Eligibility and call the IHSS Intake Hotline at (415) 473-4636.
